Flatwater Rentals
A Fun Day on the Cheat River Water Trail Starts Here
The slower moving waters of the upper Cheat are the perfect setting for a relaxing day with your crew! Because this is an easy-going stretch of the river we rent recreational kayaks, tubes, Stand-Up Paddleboards (aka SUPs), and canoes to help you create your ideal river day. Choose your craft, choose your put in, grab some snacks and spend the day enjoying some of the most beautiful water the Cheat River has to offer.
Your rental includes a shuttle from our River Outpost to the put in and all necessary paddles and PFD's. You will paddle or float downstream back to the take out at our River Outpost. Bring your own snacks, cold beverages, sunscreen, fishing rods and sense of adventure!
The upper Cheat River is a calm, gentle stretch of water at most water levels. Because of this, no experience is necessary to paddle the sections we run shuttles for. However, the Cheat is a free-flowing river and water levels can fluctuate throughout the season. If you have any questions about how current water levels will affect your trip send us a message or give us a call.
A note about kids and flatwater trips: As lifelong paddlers ourselves, we love and support getting kids out on the water as soon as possible, however there are some additional considerations when taking very small children along on a river trip. If your child is smaller than 30 lbs we require that you bring your own USCG approved PFD for the child. Also, wrangling a wiggling toddler does not make acquiring a new skill easier. So, to make sure you can focus on having fun with your child, we recommend choosing an activity you're already comfortable with.

Water Level Information
Currently we are offering our two and four mile shuttles and the out and back paddle. At today's water levels there may be a spot or two on the four mile paddle where you would have to get out and float your boat for a few feet.
We have added an "Out And Back" option to our canoes, kayaks and tandem kayaks. This allows you to put in at our outfitter and paddle a mile upstream and a little ways downstream - so you get a two mile (plus) paddle at a lower price with none of the dragging or walking! To take advantage of that select "Out and Back" when booking your trip.
